Steve Abrams Puppet TheatreArt Form(s):
My aim in presenting puppet theatre is to inspire and empower audience members to explore their own creativity by working with puppets. I want my audience to try it, so I keep my show very simple. I approach puppetry as an actor, writer and director. I want children (and adults) in my audiences to recognize their own likes, dislikes, emotions, observations and playfulness.
Steve Abrams is best known for his great rapport with children. For over 30 years his puppetry has provided laughter and inspiration to audiences in 20 states. Performance credits include Brooklyn Children’s Museum, University of Pennsylvania Museum, Longwood Gardens, Philadelphia Flyers, Carnegie Library, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Phila Zoo, WHYY-TV, museums in Florida, Indian reservations in Arizona, and the Library of Performing Arts at Lincoln Center.
Mr. Abrams presents workshop sessions for children, teachers, and librarians. Steve serves as associate editor of Puppetry Journal and North American editor of the world Encyclopedia of Puppetry Arts. Honors: past President Puppeteers of America; Pennsylvania Library Association Certificate of Merit; delegate to international puppetry congress in Perth Australia.
