Grants $6,000 +

Artists in Education Consortium GrantDon’t miss this opportunity!! The New Jersey State Council on the Arts, in partnership with Young Audiences and Arts Horizons, provides the most in-depth, long-term artist residencies by extraordinary professional teaching artists. Any school (public, private or parochial) grades K-12 can apply. Your school determines the focus and goals of your 20-day residency selecting from a wide variety of arts disciplines (dance, theater, music, opera/musical theatre, visual arts, design arts, crafts, photography, media art, poetry, playwriting and prose). AIE staff will provide technical assistance workshops (with professional development credit) for help in the application process. Schools are required to match grant funds with time, resources, and funds found in their existing school budget – the grant does not require an actual cash match. Deadline for applications is in March 2013 for the following school year. Grant awards are based on school’s readiness to conduct a successful residency – not on financial need.

NRG Energy Discount GrantThanks to the generous support of NRG Energy, Young Audiences (YANJ) will launch a new program called the NRG Energy Creatively Green Family Festival Awards. This program will award five schools or school districts engaging and dynamic family/community festivals that offer parents and children the chance to engage in hands-on art-making to better understand the importance of environmental sustainability. Winning schools/districts will host community family events that will encourage participants to use their imagination, creativity and innovation around individual and community responsibility to protect our planet. Each winning school’s festival, will be planned collaboratively between YANJ staff and a school team of teachers, parents and administrators. Winning schools will coordinate related classroom “green” lessons prior to the event. After the Festival, each school and community will select an “action step” that culminates in a new awareness of their common good. Festivals can take place on weekday evenings or Saturdays and will last 2-3 hours.
