Tasha Grant (she/they), is a queer & non-binary multi-disciplinary educator, applied theatre practitioner, and cultural worker from Newark, New Jersey. She is the founder and program director of the Maroon Theatre Project, a New Jersey-based social justice theatre program that aims to foster critical consciousness, activism, and healing in youth through the arts. Tasha works from a culturally responsive framework reimagining education that centers and supports students’ social-emotional development, and that provides them with access to social justice and political education. With over ten years of experience in education and youth development across the NY/NJ area as a teaching artist, sexuality educator, former charter high school theatre teacher, and college lecturer, she has created learning experiences rooted in equitable and inclusive practices. Tasha is committed to creating affirming spaces for multi-marginalized youth by prioritizing queer, trans, and non-binary youth of color. She holds a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Theatre from Utica University and an M.A. in Educational Theatre from New York University. |
