Gail Scuderi
Art Form(s):Artist Statement
Mosaics as an art form have a rich history dating back to ancient Greece and Rome. Both clay and glass as an artistic medium survive to tell us stories of the ancient world. It is because of this rich history and durability that I find the mosaic process to be the perfect medium for both my personal work and for work that is created with students of all ages. As a teaching artist, my role is to help students and communities to discover the story they wish to tell, and learn the materials and process to make those stories visible for future generations.
