Description

Feel It, Sing It, Live It: The Story of Soul Music & You is a high-energy, interactive musical assembly by award winning recording artist Carl Brister where students explore the history of soul music in the United States through live performance, storytelling, singing, and movement. Students don’t just watch—they participate by clapping rhythms, singing along, and engaging in creative activities that bring the music to life. The program culminates with an inspiring introduction to songwriting, showing students how their own stories and emotions can become music from the soul.

In this interactive performance audiences will learn about soul music pioneers from the late 60’s and 1970’s, the genre’s historical roots and its ties to the African-American fight for civil rights. They’ll discover soul’s impact on American culture and explore how to turn their own story into “soul” music.
