Jammin Djembe Folktale Sizzle carries the audience on a storytelling journey across Africa, the Caribbean and the Canary Islands. This dynamic and interactive performance uses dialogue, and various percussion instruments and flutes for sound design and music, along with dance and choreography to articulate and animate the storytelling. The performance includes interactive elements including repetitive call-and-response, prompts for predicting and guessing what happens next, collective singing, and invitations to join the storytellers in movement and gesture. This multi-sensory storytelling experience creates an energetic experience that transforms reading into adventures that students will never forget. Students will develop an appreciation of different cultures and the value of reading, while learning valuable life lessons.
