Young Audiences in partnership with Paul Robeson Community School for the Arts received an Inclusive Healthy Communities grant from the Division of Disability Services, New Jersey Department of Human Services. This grant is providing Young Audiences programs as a catalyst to advance inclusive arts experiences. See dates below for artists who are partnering with your school.
Teaching artist Bobby Beetcut, teachers, and students will engage with mindfulness music activities as they practice conscious breathing, deep listening, music composition, song writing and singing.
Teachers and students will learn how music and song allows them to regulate their emotions and nurture their relationships.
“Students participate in community experiences, are validated by classmates and teachers, and feel a sense of community”
Music and movement provide opportunities for students to practice breath work that will enhance their self regulation. Singing and dancing are ideal shared experiences that encourage students to feel a sense of belonging and community.
“Students experience creativity, self-expression, and new areas in which to excel”
This workshop will support students to co-create music together. Students will write and record music by making artistic choices about tempo, rhythm, melody, and lyrics. Student created songs will be digitally recorded and shared with peers and families.
