The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey

About the Artist

The acclaimed Shakespeare Theatre of NJ is one of the leading Shakespeare theatres in the nation. With its distinguished productions and education programs, the company strives to illuminate the universal and lasting relevance of the classics for contemporary audiences. In 1997, The Theatre launched SHAKESPEARE LIVE! to bring Shakespeare’s works to students as the playwright intended – in performance. Each production is engaging, compelling, visually imaginative, and told with impeccable clarity; making Shakespeare accessible and appealing for students and teachers alike. LIVE! is part of SHAKESPEARE IN AMERICAN COMMUNITIES, a national program of the NEA in cooperation with Arts Midwest.

We have a passionate commitment to the philosophy that Shakespeare is one of the greatest interdisciplinary teaching tools— touching on subjects as diverse as language arts, ethics, political structures, astronomy, mythology, art, music, European History, and the sciences. As students experience these exciting presentations (utilizing our study guides and post-show discussions), they learn not only about the world around them, but also about the complexities of the human spirit.
