Young Audiences Arts for Learning NJ & Eastern PA (YANJEP) is the region’s leading arts-in-education resource, providing teaching-artist performances, workshops, residencies, and professional learning programs to schools across New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania.
These are interactive, electrifying performances & assemblies that bring the arts alive for the entire school or community.
Every program expands children’s understanding of culture and creativity.
- Audience size for assembly performances is 250 unless otherwise specified.
- Performances are 45 minutes long, and include demonstration and question-and-answer components.
- Performances connect the art form, as well as the subject matter, to classroom curricula, keeping students engaged and attentive as they learn.
Weekend and evening performances are available upon request, for an additional fee. This option makes it easier for parents, families, and caregivers to attend performances and participate as educational partners in students’ development.
Our workshops provide engaging, hands-on learning. Professional teaching artists, working side-by-side with educators and students, provide in-depth experiences that stretch each child’s imagination, creativity, and innovation. Workshops and residencies connect to curriculum, themes and content areas, and accommodate all students.
- Workshops are between 45 to 60 minutes long.
- Pricing includes 4 workshops per day, each with up to 25 students.
- Workshops are held in the classroom, the art or music classroom, or other space appropriate for the art form.
- For longer-term projects, residencies provide 3+ days of workshops with the same artist.
- Residencies can be scheduled over the course of several weeks or months, depending on the project.

Educator Alignment:
- Young Audiences’ programs engage relevant and contemporary creative practices along with arts education scholarship.
- Participants learn creative teaching strategies to support and expand their teaching practice.
- Participants gain access to materials and resources that make it easy for them to immediately use what they learned.
- Active teachers can include their participation toward their 100-hour professional learning requirement and/or add it to their individual professional learning plans.
Professional Learning Time Investment:
- The most effective partnerships include three to four 90-minute sessions throughout the school year. Each session is with the same artist and educators.
- In addition to fostering ongoing professional relationships, this sequential approach creates a powerful cycle of learning, implementation, reflection, and revision for participants.

How to Schedule a Program & What to Expect
Scheduling a performance or workshop with Young Audiences is easy. Our professional staff are here to help:

If your school is interested in scheduling a performance with one of our talented artists, here’s what the process looks like.
After reviewing our program offerings, select which assemblies, residencies or workshops you would like to incorporate into your school schedule.
To contact our team, either fill out our Program Inquiry form or call us at 866-500-9265.
Our staff will provide step-by-step help to figure out every detail, including artists, dates, and times, and we’ll work with you to stay within your budget.
Once you schedule your program, our staff will confirm your selection and send contract and study guides to make sure your students have the best experience possible.
All prices and programs are subject to change. Audience size may not exceed the published limits without the artist's permission.
Invoices will be sent one month prior to your program. Payment is due on or before the performance day or on the first day of a residency program.
Confirmed programs cancelled by the school less than three weeks before the scheduled date are subject to a cancellation fee of one-third of the program cost, excluding travel. Should illness, inclement weather, or other unforeseen circumstances prevent the artist from performing, Young Audiences offers schools the option to reschedule, substitute an artist/ensemble, or receive a full refund.
A travel fee of $95 will be applied for each day. Other costs (such as supplies and materials when noted) will be invoiced prior to the workshop or residency.
About the Creative Classroom Toolkit
Some programs come with a Creative Classroom Toolkit for grades K-4. The Toolkit is a collection of innovative educational tools that extend your one-time in-school performance into a series of engaging, curriculum-based lessons.
