The Art of Bharatanatyam Dance provides an active form of exercise that has positive effects, for physical, mental and emotional well-being. During this residency with Indian Dancer Ramya Tirumalai, students will experience a combination of history, storytelling, movement vocabulary, cultural history and legacy.
Through the traditions of Bharatanatyam dance, students will engage with classical Indian music, rhythm, foot work, hand gestures (mudras) and eye movements to express story and emotions in powerful ways. Students will work on a dance storytelling using the dance style Bharatanatyam. The students will learn how to express the narrative through movement and gesture.
