Stories in Motion

Type: Performances / Assembly

Program Availability: In-Person

Description

“Stories in Motion” is an engaging and educational assembly performance that combines the expressive power of dance and movement with key principles of SEL and storytelling techniques of ELA, creating an interactive and meaningful experience for students. The program features dances based on fables from around the world that address themes of honesty, empathy, identity, and belonging. Students are asked to identify and explore the key components of the story unfolding on stage. Then students get the opportunity to create their own dance to bring a story to life!

“Stories in Motion” showcases how narrative structure, character development, and themes can be explored through movement. Just as in a well-crafted story, the dancers will take the audience on a journey through conflict and resolution, illustrating key literary concepts through their choreography. The performance encourages students to embrace their creativity, develop empathy, and deepen their understanding of both themselves and the world around them.

Through this unique and fun assembly, students will not only witness the beauty of dance but also gain valuable insights into important life skills and literacy concepts that will stay with them long after the performance ends.
