Andrés Cisneros
Art Form(s):Artist Statement
My work as an artist and educator is rooted in a deep commitment to preserving and sharing the musical traditions of the African diaspora in Latin America. As a percussionist and bandleader, I experience rhythm as both a form of cultural expression and a way of building community, and I bring that same philosophy into the classroom. I believe students learn best through active participation, by making music, moving, and listening together in ways that honor the origins of these traditions. Through my teaching, I aim to create spaces where students can connect with culture, express themselves creatively, and experience the power of collective music-making.
