Dancing Ourselves
Description
Critically acclaimed Heidi Latsky Dance is passionately dedicated to reflecting the true diverse nature of the world we live in through accessible, thought-provoking, dynamic and rigorous dance works. We promote active/complete inclusion and challenging preconceived notions of who are generally accepted as dancers as a metaphor for life. During the assembly, we share our core values of kindness, respect, safety, and non judgment through film and live performance, discussion. The students have the opportunity to create their own dance as a team and perform it. Exposing the students to our company of disabled and non-disabled performers allows students to witness each dancer’s unique movement and expressive qualities. The dancers serve as strong and clear role models for the students to explore their own individual expression.
