Robotics
Description
Program Description for K-2:
This workshop will guide participants to build a robot and learn how to program a robot. This workshop is great for young children to begin robotic and computational thinking. Robots will light up, move, dance and challenge our ideas of who robots make an impact in our lives. The projects are always innovative and a blast to build!
Program breakdown for K-2:
1 Day Program:
- Introduction to robotics
- Problem Solving Challenges
4 or 5 Day Program:
- Art with robots
- Building a robot
- Simple circuits
- Problem Solving Challenges
Program Description for 3-8:
This series of workshops teach the basics of robotics. Students will learn about four key topics related to technology and art. We cover beginning concepts of coding (loops and variables) in the environment of the MIT Scratch program. We also learn about engineering and physical computing for robotic machines. We use an emerging technology –the BBC Micro:Bit. Students also learned about creating a few simple electronic systems – with motors and led lights. Finally, students learn to discuss and analyze the use of technology by artists.
