Storytelling & Cultural Literacy
Description
Students tell stories in the oral tradition with Queen Nur using hands-on exercises that engage voice, tone, facial expression, and body movement. They learn the structural and performance elements of storytelling while collaborating with classmates to create group stories. A multi-day residency enriches the students’ experience through deeper connections with the Language Arts standards and SEL competencies as students rewrite and perform fairy tales, folktales, myths, historical tales, or legends based on a selected theme.
