ADVOCACY AT YOUNG AUDIENCES

At Young Audiences we believe that the arts play an essential role in children’s lives and in education. Our Board of Trustees and staff are passionate about advocating for arts education.

Actions you can take:

As a constituent, you are the ideal grassroots advocate to convey to elected officials how essential arts education is to young people. Your stories and experiences let representatives understand what it means to have the arts in schools. Here are a few actions you can take:

  • Sign up for Action Alerts from ArtPride or download the Advocacy Kit from Citizens for the Arts.
  • Attend a school board or PTA meeting and voice your support for an adequately funded arts plan that includes teaching

    Hip Hop Fundamentals

artists and live performances during the school day.

  • Share your stories with local press, bloggers, and community media groups. Your personal stories about arts education can influence your neighbors and your elected officials to prioritize the arts.
  • Connect with YA staff to join YA’s efforts.
